Andrew had to return something he bought earlier in the week, and I wanted to look into buying an australian sim card for my phone.
We grocery shopped, bought sim cards, and then Andrew said he wanted to find a place to buy some alcohol. So we were on the hunt (with our groceries in hand haha)
For those of you that don't know, the aussies have QUITE the substance abuse problem. They have a lot of people that OD on drugs even though all drugs are illegal (only prescription drugs are legal) and one of the highest rates of DUI's. Cost of living here is very high... food and drinks are very expensive (almost $4 for a bottle of soda, $8 for a can of red bull) so as you can imagine the price of alcohol is MUCH higher than in the U.S.
***Hey Greg & Krystal!...By the way... the high price of soda is totally killing my soda habit... (I miss you Dr. Pepper!)***
Andrew and I finally found the liquor store.... and you'll never believe what it looked like...
That's right ladies and gentlemen!
DRIVE-THRU LIQUOR STORE
LIQUORLAND!!!!
mind = BLOWN!
(and they wonder why they have a DUI problem...)
So they don't sell liquor, wine, alcohol, beer in grocery stores but you can buy it via drive-thru! That will totally cure the substance abuse problem....
You literally drive up, tell the runner boy what you want, he retrieves it, hands it to you through your rolled down window, and you pay and you're on your way!
Anyway Andrew and I thought that was totally hilarious. He bought some really crappy beer and a crappy bottle of wine and it cost him $38.00
Here's some other prices for you:
AND these are smaller than our bottles...
So that was a fun adventure. But now I'm back to my boring dorm room and its only 6pm.
LAME.
I'd join the gym but its too expensive, and they close at like 7pm (double lame)
and after all the WORLD IS MY GYM! (right Krystal & Greg??)
I leave you with one final question....
Do you think they're having a sale? Because I'm not quite sure...
