The snorkel is for those adventurous souls who are driving their cars in water....and I mean deep enough water where the level of water gets above the hood of the car and would otherwise find its way into the intake portion of your engine, causing instant engine death and you, the driver, to become an instant Olympic swimmer....
Not good, considering there's Crocodiles in the water.....oh, and snakes......
