It's Tough Being Blonde...

This story is about 23-year-old girl living in Joondalup. It has a happy side, and a sad side.

There once was a girl named Ky-luh

She picked up and moved to Aus-trail-yuh

She left her family and friends,

Using the money her mom sends,

Trying to get educated as a shei-luh!

See, on the eve that was last,

She went to a meeting real fast,

Full of ladies and gents,

Where knowledge was lent,

and "new friend" potential was vast!

Alas! it was true,

She made a friend new!

Her name was Ash,

She gave her advice to save cash,

But that's where the story gets blue.

See this little student,

Was not very prudent,

She was far too happy,

To get her books on her lappy,

That she forgot the advice she'd been sent.

She bought her books,

Without second looks,

Wasted some money,

It's certainly not funny,

And now she's just another one of the rooks!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's true guys... I made a rookie mistake.

Ummm... it's honestly sad how much time I just spent trying to write that RETARDED poem in effort to make you guys laugh. It doesn't even rhyme... but it made me laugh and helped me waste time so thats all that matters!

What I was trying to tell you guys are two things:

1. Yay! I made a new friend! (Ash)
2. She gave me a coupon that I forgot to use, and I'm so mad about it!

Here's what happened (since my poem tells you nothing and makes no sense-- haha) Last night I had to attend a "New Resident" meeting for my dorm where they go over the rules and all that jazz. It's super boring, but they feed you after, so thats how they get you to go. So as I am eating my ECU Village paid for subway sandwich a girl comes up to me and super-excidedly introduces herself as Ash: employee of the bookstore on campus. She was at the meeting to pass out coupons and give people information about the bookstore. She doesn't live in the village, but she lives here in Joondalup. We talked for a while and she is absolutely adorable and really sweet. She says that she's going to take me out to Perth soon for a night on the town (Thank God) and she asked for my phone number but I don't have one yet :( She said she will find me on facebook and communicate with me that way.

ANYWAY, she gave me a "20% off your next purchase" coupon for the bookstore last night, which was perfect timing because I told her I was going to buy my books tomorrow (today).

As you can guess, I went to the bookstore today, I saw Ash and she helped me find my books (one of them I had to order because its not in stock) and then we chatted for a while. She said she thinks I'm "wicked cool" and was excited to tell all her friends she has a new friend from California. (That made me happy!)

But! Since I've been dying for friendship and human interaction, and I was so excited I found a friend, my excitement caused me to forget about my coupon while standing in line, and I paid $300 for my books WITHOUT USING MY COUPON. I know some of you (*cough* MEN *cough*) may be like "ummmm... what's the big deal... it's a coupon.... relax." But my women out there understand how frustrating it is when you KNOW you could have saved money and you were PLANNING on saving money, and then you missed your chance! So frustrating!

Once I got back to my room and I was tango-ing with Ryan I saw the coupon in my purse and I gasped and yelled my favorite F word, and my heart just sank! Obviously that $300 purchase is going to be my largest purchase at the bookstore, and that being the case, I wasted the ONE opportunity I had to get the FULLEST use of my coupon. I'm so upset!

Anyway, moral of today's story is.... When you make new friends, you forget important things. Or maybe it's just a downfall of being blonde.

Sorry to waste your money Mom! (kinda) But I am happy to have a new friend in Ash, she is a total sweetheart! :)

Also, I went back to the bookstore a bit ago, and asked if I could adjust the transaction by returning my books then re-purchasing them with the coupon and they said no :'(

So now I will get 20% off when I buy my ECU sweatshirt tomorrow. *sigh* Still savings, but I sure missed out on OPTIMUM savings. Rookie move Kylah... Rookie move.....

Hang in there Sweetie!
The important thing is, you learned from your mistake! I'm sure everyone has done something like that when getting all caught up in the flurry of activity of relocating, learning new territory and meeting all sorts of people.
I'm glad you're making friends (did we ever doubt?) and Ash sounds nice.
Ummmmm....what's ECU stand for again? I'm sure I wasn't paying attention when you told me.
Nice poem! I kinda like the Kylah thing!!! HaHa!
Love you!
